These are a set of my favorite books and I redesigned them to look as if they were a part of the same set. The three books I chose are Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson, The Mediator: Shadowland by Meg Cabot, and Shadow Falls: Born at Midnight by C. C. Hunter. They are all unified by genre. They are all science fiction books and these designs were redesigned by just using my own original drawings, thick paper, ink from an inkjet printer, cord, hot glue, rubber cement, and some laminate paper to make a shiny texture on the layers of cutouts.

My design is using the colors black, red and white. Each layer is a cut out and there are four layers involved in the making of these covers. Each layer is matte for the first layer, laminated or glossy for the second layer, matte for the third layer and glossy again for the last layer. This creates depth and makes the audience feel the mystery behind each layer. My intention was to create a dark fantasy vibe for this entire set. The set involves each book jacket having a pop out fold as a fun 3D design to the cover. To bind everything together is a suede string that is attached to the sides to secure the book jacket when closed.

Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment by James Patterson

This book is about six children who were experimented on in a lab. The scientists were trying to make a hybrid who is 98% human and 2% bird. So, these six children were created to have wings and could fly. They were tortured since they were forced to do tests their whole lives and kept in cages. In the story, these six children were rescued by one of the scientests and taken to live somewhere secluded. They were living as a happy family together until one day the scientist who rescued them disappeared. They lived on their own for years. Angel, the youngest of the flock, was kidnapped by another mutant who is loyal to the scientists who created them.

The Mediator: Shadowland by Meg Cabot

This book is about a teenage girl named Meg who has moved to California from New York. Her mom got remarried and she now lives with her mom, stepfather, and his three boys. Meg sees ghosts. She is a liason between the living and the dead. It is her job to help the lost spirits figure out how they died or what is keeping them from crossing over. She goes through several bloody encounters to try and help these ghosts. One of the ghosts is living in her new house. For some reason, he doesnt seem to need her help. He later becomes her partner and helps her help other ghosts cross over as well.

Shadow Falls: Born at Midnight

This book starts off the series with a teenage girl who is sent to a camp for troubled teens. However, she is not troubled at all. She can see and speak to spirits. She did not know how to handle her life of being involved with ghosts who interfere with her day to day life. After getting into trouble, her mother sent her to this camp for troubled kids. It turns out everyone in this camp is a supernatural being. All the people in that camp were also born at midnight. They somehow find their path to this camp and realize who they truly are. Kylie Galen is the main character and she learns about what she is and the powers she has within. No one knew what type of supernatural she was. She is unique and that could be dangerous for enemies who want to destroy her power.
